Introduction
According to the American Lung Association your lung capacity may be affected by certain disorders such as asthma and emphysema. Smoking increases the risks of these disorders. Dr. Gavin Petrie, consultant chest physician for the Smoking - Health Risks Website, states that usually you need about 1/3 of your lung capacity to carry out routine tasks that do not require exertion. Dr. Petrie continues to say that Lung damage is permanent, but giving up smoking at any stage reduces the rate of decline in lung capacity.
Purpose
I want to compare lung capacity in smokers and nonsmokers.
Hypothesis
I think that if people smoke then they will have a smaller lung capacity. I think this because smoking is bad for your lungs.
