  • Identify a substance as acidic, basic, or neutral by using red and blue litmus paper.
  • Understand the pH scale.
  • Find the pH of substances using pH strips.
  • Identify and classify household items as acids or bases.
  • Develop a basic understanding of the uses of acids and bases in nature.
  • Gain a basic understanding of the pH scale.
  • Gain a basic understanding of household chemical safety.
  • Develop and understand the science terminology of hypothesizing and controlling variables.
  • Plan and conduct fair tests.
  • Relate better to fellow classmates through use of cooperative learning.
